The release comes ahead of his headline show in Dublin next month
Malaki has released his latest single, 'Pasta,' alongside an official visualiser, set to premiere at 7pm on June 25.
“Pasta is about the early beginnings of falling in love with someone new. In particular, their characteristics and quirky mannerisms," said the rapper. "The way they sing in the shower, their smile, the way they light their cigarette off a toaster. Sometimes, it’s the little things about a person that make you think. 'I might love her.'"
“Myself and Nick Mills (producer) wrote and recorded the track in the last hour of our first session together," he continued. "It was one of those moments where everything fit into place so effortlessly. He began by playing the piano chords we hear throughout the track as I began humming the melody to the chorus. One hour later we had the track completed. All that was left was to add some additional instruments and a little bit of love and attention."
This is the Dubliner's second release in 2024, following March's 'Long Face.' Recently, he's positioned himself as one of Ireland’s leading rap artists, with 135,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone.
Malaki first started releasing music in January 2019 with the spoken word single 'Call Us by Our Names.' Since then he has shared numerous singles, an EP, and a studio album Chrysalis, which dropped in 2020.

The 24-year-old is known for discussing subjects such as such as anxiety and depression, while also providing social and political commentary through his music on topics such as toxic masculinity among the youth of Ireland. “I think maybe it started to garner some attention because it was a young male speaking about how other young males perceived themselves, and what really goes on and why they’re acting like that," he told Hot Press ealrier this year.
Malaki is set to perform alongside Belfast band Anna's Number in Ulster Hall in Belfast on June 28, 2024. The rapper is also performing in Dublin's Workman's Club a month from now, on August 24, 2024. Tickets to his show in Dublin can be found here.
