Following the release of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again just over 2 weeks ago, the nation has been on a trip back to the ‘70s. The soundtrack for the first Mamma Mia! movie has risen to Number 5, while the sequel remains at the top spot. Both are collections of Abba’s biggest hits, with some lesser known gems sprinkled through performed by an all-star cast.
The highest spot held by a new-comer this week is Rosstrevor-born Catherine McGrath’s debut album Talk of this Town. It shot straight to the top 20 and currently sits at Number 17. You can read an interview with this rising star in the latest edition of Hot Press. Denzel Curry makes his Irish Album Charts debut with his 3rd LP, TA13OO at Number 37. While some old reliables also make appearances: Phil Collins’ The Singles (Number 40) and, following its rerelease on vinyl, U2’s Achtung Baby (Number 45).

It’s also clear that Ireland is hyped for Electric Picnic with 3 of the upcoming artists being featured in the top 20: George Ezra with Staying at Tamara’s (Number 4), Picture This with their self-titled album (Number 11) and Dua Lipa with her self-titled album at (Number 18).
