Margaret Cho is making her Ireland debut at the Tivoli Theatre on November 26th with her new comedy show Fresh Off The Bloat.
Margaret Cho has been a pioneer for women in comedy since her debut in the early 90’s and her hard work and comedic insight has garnered her lots of praise. The five time Grammy and Emmy nominated comedian was recently named one of the top 50 comedians of all time by Rolling Stone magazine putting her name alongside such comedic legends as Jerry Seinfeld, Louis C.K., and Richard Pryor.
Her upcoming performance at the Tivoli Theatre is Margaret Cho’s first performance in Ireland. Speaking of her Ireland debut, Margaret says; ‘’I'm thrilled to be playing Dublin for the very first time! I have always thought of Korea as being the Ireland of Asia and so I'm sure I'll fit right in!’’
Margaret Cho has made a career tackling such sensitive and controversial topics as addiction, sex, abuse, and activism with a razor-sharp wit that makes her a stand out stand-up comedian.
When commenting about her new show, Fresh Off The Bloat, Margaret Cho said, “Fresh Off The Bloat is my sickest show to date. My grandmother said, "You look like bloated as if you've been found dead in a lake after several days of searching." Koreans are the most savage of all the Asians. My new show is all about being fresh off drugs and drinking and suicide and coming back to life - finally fished out of the river Styx. It's meta. It's magical. It's me.”
Tickets priced €29 go on sale this Friday, 21st July, at 9am through ticketmaster.ie and the usual outlets nationwide.
