JJ72 frontman comments on departure of bassist Hilary Woods
JJ72 mainman Mark Greaney has been talking on jj72.com about the sudden departure of bassist Hilary Woods.
"Hilary decided to leave the band as she genuinely feels that there are other things that she wants to pursue at this moment," he reflects. "However myself and Fergal feel very confident in the future of JJ72…it's time to fuckin' raaaaawwwwwwwkkkkk! again."
While Harvest Ministers/Valves woman Sara Fox continues to be linked with the position, Greaney insists that they've yet to decide on a replacement for Woods.
"Sara is a great musician, but we know quite a few great musicians. Toby (JJ72 keyboardist) will be playing bass for Japan and Turkey – if the place still exists – in March. We'll be purchasing a beatiful wig for Le Tobias Maximus. And maybe also borrowing one of Hils' dresses."
The singer's light-heartedness doesn't extend to their new album's disappointing commercial performance in the UK.
"Without trying to get ourselves assassinated by large record companies, we have to say we felt very let down by Columbia," he fumes. "No matter how uncommercial parts of I To Sky may seem compared to JJ72 it should have done a hell of a lot better than it did. Not to worry, we'll return very soon and they'll be on our skinny asses again.
