Mark McCabe will celebrate the 25th anniversary of 'Maniac 2000' with a new recording of the dance music favourite.
Dublin-based DJ and producer Mark McCabe is set to release 'Maniac 2000 (25th Anniversary Edition)' on May 2.
The fifth best selling single in Irish history, McCabe will re-record 'Maniac 2000' with vocalist Mimi Lane to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Previously unreleased online, the track will also be available to stream for the first time.
The song, first recorded in The Temple Theatre, has its roots in Michael Sembello's 'Maniac', which was a favourite of DJs in the 1990s - including McCabe, who would rap over the instrumentals of different remixes of the track. 'Maniac 2000' would first grow in popularity when The Temple Theatre recording was played on the pirate radio station Pulse FM, which McCabe presented.
The track was officially recorded with an audience at Contarf Cricket Club, releasing in February 2000. It hit number one on the Official Irish Charts, remaining there for ten weeks.

In 2015, McCabe performed the song live at Electric Picnic - his first performance in nearly 10 years.
"The Temple Theatre days were really special," McCabe said. "We were just kids loving dance music and there was no real-life pressure, but EP was a different type of special, it was an awakening for me."
"I hadn't performed in almost 10 years so really wasn't expecting much, but that night we lit a fuse," he added.
