Hayes has performed in venues around the world, such as The Barbican in London, Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Philharmonie de Paris, Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam and other well-known concert halls.
In 2023, the fiddle player celebrated the Good Friday Agreement's 25th anniversary with a concert at the famed Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
A founding member of The Common Ground Ensemble, The Martin Hayes Quartet and supergroup The Gloaming, Hayes is also the Artistic Director of Cork's Masters of Tradition festival and is the co-curator for Kilkenny Arts Festival's Marble Sessions.
He has collaborated with a variety of artists, including Bill Frisell, Ricky Skaggs, Jordi Svall, Brooklyn Rider and the Irish Chamber Orchestra, as well as working on Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Project and sharing the stage with musicians like Sting and Paul Simon.
Later this year, Hayes and The Common Ground Ensemble will launch a UK and Ireland tour, with 11 shows planned through October.
Hayes grew up surrounded by a musical family and the rich traditions of rural Clare, instilling in him a passion for traditional Irish music at a young age.
