Martin Leahy teamed up with Greenshire’s Mary Greene to write his follow up single.
Cork singer-songwriter Martin Leahy has released his second single this April called ‘The Wolves In The Valley’. It is a delicate traditional folk song through it’s gentle backing vocals and violins, but the lyrics carry so much weight to them.
The single touches on subjects such as addiction, mental health and trauma. The song contains quotes stating, “Oh power above me, Guide me somehow” indicating the hardships and feelings of hopelessness faced with addiction and mental health struggles.
Leahy’s first single, ‘Song for Kirsty MacColl’ had received great success when it featured on RTE Radio One and was ranked in 16th place in the International Songwriting Competition in the United States.
The singer-songwriter has been in Irish music scene for over 25 years as he is a part of the trad band, North Cregg. Leahy has also written and worked with artists such as Christy Moore, Ger Wolfe and Cormac O Caoimh to name a few.
His latest single, The Wolves In The Valley’ was co-written with Greenshire’s Mary Greene.
