Sponsored by Dublin City Council day of celebration honours and local women via a host of events, discussions and live concerts.
Nollaig na mBan is set to take place in Dublin's North Inner City on January 6, 2025, with Olympic gold medallist Kellie Harrington, renowned blues artist Mary Stokes, vocalist Leslie Dowdall and viral sensation Murieann Bradley among those featuring.
Following an awards ceremony hosted by author and activist Catriona Crowe, Olympic gold-winning boxer Kellie Harrington will be speaking at an event at the Charleville Mall Library at 4:30pm.
A range of gigs will be taking place in the evening, with the Mary Stokes Trio and Murieann Bradley performing at the North Strand Parish Church at 6:30pm, before Leslie Dowdall and Aoife Bridget take to the stage a short walk away at the Annesley House Pub at 9pm.
"I grew up in Dublin, part of a big family where Christmas was busy and full of excitement," said Mary Stokes. "We always marked ‘little Christmas’, Nollaig Na mBan, as an end to the season with a quieter celebration, the last of the ‘pud’ and Christmas cake shared, recognising that “the Christmas” was over for that year and that the women could relax, have a cuppa and a bit of cake in peace as we awaited the start of Spring. This year, I look forward to celebrating Nollaig na mBan in my community by performing live with some of my band members in St. Columba’s Church, North Strand, Dublin."
