We caught up with Maverick Sabre for the recent issue of Hot Press before he takes to the stage for tonights Bow Street sessions in Smithfield
Tonight see's Maverick Sabre take to the stage for the latest edition of Bow Street Sessions. Our man Colm O'Reagan caught up with him for a chat for the latest issue of Hot Press where he talked about working with Chronixx in Jamaica on his most recent LP.
When Maverick was recording his most recent LP Innerstanding it took him all over the world collaborating with various artists, but as he tells Hot Press it was flying into Jamaica to work with Chronixx that really stands out.
Chronixx is a local hero in Jamaica and one of Reggaes current superstars, but it was working alongside him in Tuff Gong Studio's that really stood out for Maverick. Tuff Gong Studios is the location where Bob Marley recorded most of his work and this must have been a spiritual experience for Maverick.
He tells Hot Press "Reggae is a big influence for me, and Bob Marley a huge influence, so to find myself there along side the new king of Reggae was a really special moment".
To work with such highly respected musicians shows that Maverick is doing something right. He also talks about his friendship with and respect for Joey Badass whom he has collaborated with and forms a strong musical bond.
