Soul legend Mavis Staples has been confirmed for one night only at The Olympia Theatre.
From the traditional gospel music of the 1950s, the 1960s protest songs that underscored some of the decade's most dramatic social changes, to the self-empowerment anthems of the 1970s, Mavis Staples has long been an influential presence in both the musical and social landscape.
The voice powering The Staple Singers, Mavis will doubtlessly go down in history as one of the greatest gospel singers of all time. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Blues Hall of Fame in 2017, Staples has recorded with some of the biggest names in music including Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Prince, most recently featuring on Hozier's 'Nina Cried Power'.
Now she has announced a date at Dublin's Olympia theatre on June 23rd 2019, for one night only.
