Dublin punk artist Meryl Streek has released their brand new single ‘Dogs’, featuring Cal Graham of The Chisel.
The track is taken from Streek’s upcoming sophomore album Songs For the Deceased, set for release on October 25 via Venn Records.
“Every day my faith in people diminishes more and more,” says Streek on his inspiration behind the single. “This song was inspired by a dog called Archy who lives at the top of my road. The dogs greets me with a smile and says hello to me in his own way every single day. Something that people can't seem to do anymore.
“Modern society lacks compassion and integrity and people have lost their manners and care for others. So this is my way of saying even a random dog on the street is better than you.”
Born and raised in Dublin, Meryl Streek moved to Canada as the recession hit Ireland, an experience which he says greatly influenced his artistry: “Seeing how countries work outside of Ireland, and seeing how unfair Ireland's work ethic and living situations are, I came back here fuelled to try and make a change.”
Mostly recorded at home in his Vancouver apartment over the best part of a year, debut album 796 arrived in 2022, garnering a reputation for its ardent politicism – the title itself being a reference to the number of children’s bodies found in a septic tank at Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home in Taum.

On Songs For The Deceased the noisemaker joined forces with Fontaines D.C. producer Dan Doherty, with the duo recording the LP in Darklands Studios in Dublin.
“This is a collection of stories about Betrayal, Murder, Injustice, and Corruption,” Streek says of the album. “It’s not just happening in Ireland, it’s happening around the world and we’re supposed to just take it lying down?”
