"If darkness had a son, here I am / Temptation is his father," frontman James Hetfield belts in the new metal song.
Metallica, the legendary genre-defying metal band, have just released a brand new single titled 'If Darkness Had a Son' from their upcoming studio album 72 Seasons.
The single is accompanied by a moody music video in which the band performs the seven-minute song.
Just like the band's previous shared videos, it is directed by Tim Saccenti, who previously worked with the band on their music videos for 'Screaming Suicide' and 'Lux Æterna'.
Check out the video for 'If Darkness Had a Son' below.
As Metallica's first full-length album in six years,72 Seasons, is highly anticipated by fans. The 12-track LP was produced by Greg Fidelman, known for his work on albums by various artists.
