Hetfield said Kendall and Kylie should "show some respect".
The band's frontman was asked about the t-shirt line, which the Jenner sisters released last month. The shirts featured photos of the singers superimposed over iconic band logos, including The Doors, Pink Floyd, Ozzy Osbourne and others.
Hetfield was one of many angered by the now recalled fashion line. "I guess what they were thinking is, 'We can do whatever we want,'" he told ET Canada. "To me, it's disrespectful. We've spent 36 years working, doing our best to keep a really close connection with people... And someone just throws something up over something that we feel, not that it's sacred or anything, but show some respect."
Kendall and Kylie Jenner were subject to such swift backlash over the shirts they pulled them within a day. There were complaints from Sharon Osborne and Volletta Wallace, and lawyers for The Doors immediately threatened legal action.
Girls, you haven’t earned the right to put your face with musical icons. Stick to what you know…lip gloss. pic.twitter.com/BhmuUVrDBn

The pair released an apology for the line, saying they did not mean to disrespect any of the icons whose logos they used.
