"It won't be on Spotify and we're not going to creep into your iTunes."
One of Northern Ireland’s most acclaimed artists, Michael Mormecha, has announced details of his forthcoming second studio album. Called See Sea, the record will be released in September 2021, and funded by a Kickstarter campaign, which Mormecha launched recently.
The multi-instrumentalist and producer is the frontman of highly-respected NI band Mojo Fury, and See Sea follows his 2016 album LoFi Life. He has released a video for 'Love Like Mariana', the lead single from the project, as part of the Kickstarter campaign.
“I’m happily side-tracked producing other artists and touring as a session player, however, the massive silver lining of a world pandemic and a years down time was reconnection with my own creativity and affirming of what I am to myself,” said Mormecha about the album.
"The title had been in my head for a couple of years. It was escapism, it was me living on a boat moored in the middle of Belfast but knowing it could take me anywhere I wanted. It’s a snapshot that has taken on this whole other meaning as none of us could go anywhere."
Speaking on the decision to participate in a Kickstarter campaign, Mormecha said: "In a time where artists complain and Mr Spotify gets rich, I wanted to simply just get as much as I could for my music, so I’m just not gonna put it online.

"You can sample it, you can read about it, you can have a takeaway, but this is my shop and if you wanna hear my product you’ll pay," he continued. "I don’t care if I sell 3 or 3 million copies, I’m happier knowing that I’ve been paid fair for my art.”
