The new venue, featuring a complete performance of the album, is almost double the size of The Button Factory.
Due to demand, Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy have moved their Dublin show from The Button Factory to Vicar Street, set for August 27.
The duo announced the performance last week. Presale began on Wednesday, with general sales kicking off on March 6. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of R.E.M.’s 1985 album Fables of The Reconstruction, Shannon and Narducy have organised a North American tour beginning in February. They will also perform across the UK in August.
“This music is beyond comprehension and I cherish every chance I get to deliver it, even second generation,” said Shannon. “R.E.M. means the world to me. And this band led by Jason is stone cold ridiculous. Even if I never walked onstage, you would get a hell of a show.”
Shannon is known for his appearances in movies like Complete Unknown, Take Shelter and 12 Strong. Narducy earned acclaim for his involvement in bands like Verböten, Superchunk and Sunny Day Real Estate.

“I had never done a tour before,” said Shannon. “Jason nudged me after the Murmur set in Chicago at Metro. Now it’s all I want to do.”
