Mick Flannery and SON will release a collaborative album later this year.
Mick Flanery and Susan O’Neill (SON) have announced a special headline show in Whelan’s in Dublin on November 6th, 2021.
Tickets for the event are €30, and go on sale this Friday (June 25) at 9am on Ticketmaster and Tickets.ie. The pair are also set to release their collaborative album, In The Game, this September.
In The Game is an album about two lovers “coming together and falling apart," the duo said in a statement. “Susan and I settled on the idea that the two people would be in a relationship with each other, although they may not still be together,” said Flannery.
The album, written and recorded in the summer of 2020 during lockdown between Ireland and Los Angeles, was produced by industry heavy-hitter Tony Buchen – who has also worked with The Smashing Pumpkins, Courtney Barnett and Tim Finn.
“The concept is the dark and the light of the nature of relationships,” said SON. “The joys of love, the depth of despair in love, the wild abandon of love, and then nostalgia for times past that they know they will never have again yet should be dearly cherished," she added.
Mick Flannerry released his self-titled album in 2019 to critical and commercial success. He dropped a string of singles in 2020 with ‘Baby Talk,’ featuring SON, the live version of ‘There Must Be More,’ and ‘Minnesota.’ He also released Mickmas EP, Vol. 3 which included ‘Minnesota,’ and ‘I’ll Be Out Here,’ which also features O’Neill.
