Mick Flannery and The Henry Girls' performances for Van Morrison's 75th birthday celebration are going live tonight.
Following stunning performances for 'Rave On, Van Morrison' last night, we're bringing you another special evening of back-to-back Van covers – with Mick Flannery performing 'Linden Arden Stole The Highlights', followed by The Henry Girls performing 'These Are The Days'.
Over the course of the YouTube event, celebrating Van Morrison's 75th birthday, you can expect even more renditions of his remarkable songs from some of the most iconic names in the country – including President Michael D. Higgins with Bill Whelan, Hozier, Sinéad O'Connor, Bob Geldof, Glen Hansard and Damien Rice, to name just a few.
Across six acclaimed albums, double-platinum-selling singer-songwriter Mick Flannery has established himself as one of the country’s most compelling talents. Following the release of his Choice Music Prize-nominated self-titled album last year, his latest project, Alive: Cork Opera House 2019, was released in July – with all proceeds going to his band and crew, who have lost work due to the Covid-19 crisis.
Donegal’s Henry Girls – sisters Karen, Lorna and Joleen McLaughlin – have forged a reputation for their unique brand of charming, understated, Celtic-fused Americana. Their recent live tribute album Shout Sister Shout follows 2017’s Far Beyond The Stars.
Mick Flannery's performance of 'Linden Arden Stole The Highlights' (7pm Irish Standard Time) and The Henry Girls' performance of 'These Are The Days' (8pm) premiere tonight, August 22, on the Hot Press YouTube channel.
