Due to popular demand, Mick Flannery is returning to Dublin to play another show at Whelans.
On Thursday April 18 and Friday April 19, Mick Flannery will be playing shows at Whelans in Dublin. The second show was announced as a result of such high demand for the first.
The Irish singer-songwriter has just released his eighth studio album, Goodtime Charlie, that mirrors his perspective on the human condition, its victories, its losses and its uncertainty.
Goodtime Charlie reached number one on the independent Irish charts and number two on the official charts. This was his sixth top five record to date after he had already had three number one records.
“It sparks you out of your comfort zone,” Mick says, “It opens up new perspectives, you wonder ‘how would someone else do this?"
The album starts with a track entitled 'Neon Tonight' which Flannery describes as the feeling of nervousness and excitement a band gets before they go on stage. Following that is the albums namesake 'Goodtime Charlie' which is described as a not very serious song about a gambler that will do anything for a good time.
'Goodtime Charlie' then became the first international signing for John Prine's Oh Boy Records.

Over the course of his career, Flannery has built a reputation as one of the hardest working musicians in Ireland. He has toured extensively throughout his home country and more recently has started touring abroad.
In the last couple years, Flannery also released a duet album with Susan O’Neill that was inspired by the world’s most famous chess matches. In The Game became the biggest selling Irish independent album of 2021.
Goodtime Charlie was recorded in Cork with his friend, drummer and producer Christian Best and features his companions Alan Comerford on the guitar and Mikey O’Connell on bass. “They were sympathetic” Mick says, “It’s intuitive with them, they know me, we know each other.”
Tickets for his Dublin shows on April 18 and 19 are now available from ticketmaster.ie or from singularartists.ie and will be €33.00.
