Flannery is set to perform in The National Museum of Ireland in Dublin on August 26th, 2023.
Mick Flannery has dropped the brand new single 'Goodtime Charlie' as well as the accompanying music video. The track is the first since his collaborative duet album with Susan O'Neill in 2021.
In the Game ended up as the biggest 2021 independent selling record in Ireland that year. However, 'Goodtime Charlie' is quite the departure from the epic ballads featured in the previous album.
It embodies an infectious melody and upbeat tempo in an effort to help anyone unwind that end-of-day uptightness.
"For a while I had a barter system going with a Jiu Jitsu black belt. I would tutor him on songwriting for a while and then he’d beat the shit out of me. It was a good deal," Flannery said.

"At some point he played me a blues song that he liked and it used a C chord in the key of E major. I hadn’t encountered the change before, or at least it seemed new to me, so I thought to try and use it. This song is the result. Not a very serious song, about a gambler who is liable to do anything at any time, as long as it’s a goodtime."
Flannery reunited with Irish filmmaker Christopher Luke for the accompanying video, filmed in West Cork, starring Eamonn Flannery, Mick’s younger brother.
"I'm very grateful to Mick and his team for having me back to make this video and for allowing me the space to follow through on my strange notion," Christoper Luke said of the video. "To me, it's a video that speaks to the value of drowning out the bad voices and learning the importance of failing on your own two feet - even if they think you're out of your mind."
'Goodtime Charlie' is the latest offering from Mick Flannery, and today more dates have been announced in both North America and at home in Ireland, adding to the already extensive touring schedule for the autumn.
