Mick Flannery has released the second single off his upcoming album, Goodtime Charlie, out September 15.
Cork-born artist Mick Flannery has released the new single, 'Morning Rain,' as the second track on his upcoming album, Goodtime Charlie.
'Morning Rain' features a softer, piano-driven melody and a strings backing, giving the song a distinctly different feel to the first single Flannery released in late June.
Where 'Goodtime Charlie,' the album's title track, relies on layers of bass guitar and percussion for its blues-rock sound, the instrumentals on 'Morning Rain' are much softer, allowing Flannery's lyrics to take centre stage.
In a press release, Flannery explained, “This song has a lighter feel to it, it’s a song of appreciation for a partner, the moments and sentiments shared and reciprocated. I was a little afraid of its chirpiness to begin with, but I got over myself eventually.”

The full album will be released September 15.
Flannery will begin touring in support of the album this fall, kicking off at the Haldern Pop Festival in Denmark on August 3, before coming to the National Museum in Dublin on August 26 and Limerick on September 15.
Valerie June and Susan O'Neill will support Flannery at the National Museum. O'Neill, originally from County Clare, first supported Flannery in 2018, before the two worked together on the duet, 'Baby Talk,' in 2020.
Following the success of 'Baby Talk,' the pair released an album of duets, In the Game, in 2021.
Flannery will travel all across Ireland for his tour, with thirteen of his forty two dates in the Republic and an additional two in Belfast and Derry.
Flannery recently became Oh Boy Records' first international signing, joining artists Arlo McKinlely, Emily Scott Robinson, Kelsey Waldon and Tré Burt.
