Donegal singer songwriter returns strong collection
Before his Eurovision adventures with the jaunty, but ultimately forgettable ditty ‘We’ve Got The World’, Mickey Harte was a regular on the singer-songwriter circuit and had forged a reputation as a talent to be reckoned with.
While it can’t have been easy for the Donegal troubadour to shake off the negative baggage of Eurosong, his first album in five years showcases a serious artist with a focus on solid songwriting. Recorded in Chicago with some US musicians, there is a definite Americana-style feel to upbeat opener, ‘Not Wasting Another Day’, as well as the lovely ballad ‘Bordertown’ and the poignant, ‘Broken Love’. Mainly acoustic, with occasional rhythm section backing, the 13 songs here should steer him back to where he belongs: among the real musicians.
