Alright Utah welcome to the sparkle lounge.
The enormodome rock experience comes to your living room. So ‘Let’s Get Rocked’, ‘Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)’, ‘Rock On’, and, as one, join the ‘Rock of Ages’.
The first live album from the Leps does what all good live LP’s should do – perfectly captures a band on stage and makes you wanna go see them. Their extensive back catalogue gets an airing with the bulk of the material drawn from the breakthrough Pyromania album and the billion-selling Hysteria.
The result is an album that’s thoroughly slick and professional – but there are some nice surprises too, such as the trippy cover of David Essex’s ‘Rock On’ and the futuristic instrumental rock-out ‘Switch 625.’
Almost overlooked amongst the bonus tracks, companion dvd, and plethora of extras, are three new tracks.
‘Undefeated’ is the pick of the bunch. Combining a harder rock edge with the radio-friendly-sugar-factory of the 80s, it has a dirty blues and seductive Eastern feel. ‘Kings Of The World’ acknowledges the 70s glam helix in the Leppard DNA, sounding like a one night stand between The Beatles and Queen. The final track, ‘Its All About Believin’, meshes hints of Led Zeppelin’s ‘In The Evening’ with U2’s ‘City Of Blinding Lights’, before morphing into a soaring chorus that’d be welcome on any prospective US presidential hopeful’s campaign trail soundtrack.
The only question that remains is, “are you getting it?”
