Mission: Impossible 2 O.S.T.
Mission: Impossible 2 opens with a bit of a damp squib - Limp Bizkit's 'Take A Look Around', in which Fred Durst ruins Lalo Schifrin's original Mission Impossible theme with the addition of a lacklustre rap and the occasional burst of noise.

Thankfully, Metallica arrive to save the day with the top-notch single 'I Disappear', while the Butthole Surfers continue to lift the standard with the Bomb The Bass-style buzz-beat of 'They Came In'.
The most hilarious collaboration award goes to the Foo Fighters and Queen's Brian May for 'Have A Cigar', written by Roger Waters, which is a fun mixture of Grohl's huge AC/DC vocal and May's amusing curly perm guitar flourishes, while the prize for most impressive vocal performance is effortlessly scooped by Chris Cornell for his searing take on 'Mission 2000'. The Kid Rock-produced Uncle Kracker track 'What U Lookin At?' is better than most of the kid's own output, with a lazy keyboard-driven hook to sweeten the bombastic rapping. And then there's the excellent Spanish guitar stroll of 'Nyah' by Hans Zimmer and Heitor Pereira.
Unless you're put off by the prospect of not particularly noteworthy alt-rock chancers, hoping to benefit from the exposure, assuming they don't die from it first, there's just about enough good stuff here to make the soundtrack worth buying, even if you never see the movie.
