Mogwai announce new album Atomic and share track 'U-235'
The band announced in a Facebook post that Atomic will be released on April 1st
The album, set for release on April 1st is the follow up to 2014's Rave Tapes. The album is a reworked version of the soundtrack they produced for Mark Cousin’s 2015 documentary Atomic: Living In Dread and Promise.
The documentary was part of the BBC Four Goes Nuclear series, which commemorated the 70th anniversary of Hiroshima. Belfast native Cousin's used the soundtrack by Mogwai and archive footage to convey the lead up to the bombing of Hiroshima and the aftermath instead of creating a heavily narrated documentary.
The album follows a number of soundtracks that Mogwai have composed for film and television, which includes music for French TV series, Les Revenants and Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait. Judging by the track they shared with today’s announcement the release of Atomic is one that is sure to get fans excited.
The album can pre-ordered now from bands website and you can listen to new track U-235 below.
