The Co. Waterford star's new single, 'Warm', is out later this week, ahead of an upcoming EP.
Irish singer-songwriter Moncrieff is set to release his first single since signing to German label Energie Musik this Friday, January 21. 'Warm' will be released across all digital platforms, ahead of his highly anticipated new EP, out in Spring 2022.
Energie Musik is the new label from Telamo, focusing on pop, rock and indie releases, with releases distributed by Warner Music Germany.
Having previously performed with Adele, and impressed greats like Elton John and Avicii with his songwriting, Moncrieff has been widely tipped as one of Ireland's most exciting alt-pop prospects in recent memory.
'Warm', which has been described as the Co. Waterford artist's “first-ever love song”, showcases his ability to craft tracks that are both personal and catchy. The track was written and recorded with a small team of musician friends.
"Nobody’s perfect," he says of the new single. "This song is about being that person, and that rare moment in life when you find that person that truly sees you for you, your imperfections, flaws and scars as well as your good traits and loves you for them. It’s a really comforting and happy feeling to just know that all you have to do is be yourself.”
Growing up in the countryside, Moncrieff first connected to classic soul and R&B at 16 – and was primarily drawn to the larger-than-life voices of Otis Redding, Etta James, and Ray Charles. When his sister and, two years later, his older brother passed away, music became more and more important as an outlet, and a way to deal with loss.

“As a young teenage boy, you just don’t really have the tools to express yourself, you can’t really put it in words," he says.
Moncrieff initially played in a cover band, but moved to London to focus further on his craft. From there, a friend enlisted him to sing backing vocals for Adele, who was shooting a BBC performance. Following the release of his debut single, he learned that Sir Elton John had played the song on his show. Right before Avicii’s death, Moncrieff had booked a flight to L.A., where he was supposed to work with the Swedish superstar producer.
His 2018 track 'Serial Killer', meanwhile, has clocked up over 12 million streams on Spotify.
Moncrieff has also featured as part of the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions, and contributed to our Rave On, Van Morrison series with a performance of 'Hungry For Your Love'.
' Warm'is out on Energie Musik this Friday, January 21.
