The Tramore native immaculately captures the insecurity and vulnerability of the pandemic with a raw demo-turned-single.
Moncrieff delves into the madness of the global Covid-19 pandemic with the melancholic and moving track 'In My Room'.
In the heartfelt and minimal track, he opens up about loneliness and the terrifying uncertainty we face against an invisible enemy. It's painfully real as he sings about heightened insecurities and anxieties during a period of isolation. "Now the world is ending, I think imma die alone inside my room," he sings within a depressingly catchy chorus.
Speaking on the track, he says, "I wrote something that's basically about how I feel about all the madness of the last few days. I've decided to release it in its raw demo form, it feels like the world is ending so fuck it why not."
With the quality of its production, it's hard to tell that 'In My Room' was only recorded as demo, yet its inherent rawness is what makes the track feel so special. It's melancholic, yet as he sings there's a sense of reprieve in the fact that we're not alone in the confusion and anxiety as we deal with these unprecedented times. Moncrieff captures the current zeitgeist immaculately with his vulnerability, emphasising the idea that it's not necessary to fake bravery, singing "pull on the mask, in reality I'm terrified".

The Tramore native, who has collaborated with Adele as a backing vocalist, aims to blend his insatiable curiosity for the grit of blues with modern pop influences to craft a sound he describes as "neo-noir soul", greatly exemplified within his well-received debut EP The Early Hurts. His music has already made major waves within the UK, including a shoutout from none other than Elton John via his Beats 1 show. Powerful vocals, explosive instrumentals and refreshing vulnerability cement him as a force to be reckoned with.
