The iconic Swiss showpiece festival returns for its 58th iteration this year.
The Montreux Jazz Festival will return to shores of Lake Geneva from 5-20 July this summer, with the likes of Sting, Massive Attack, Deep Purple, Duran Duran, Laufey, The Smashing Pumpkins, Paolo Nutini, Alice Cooper and many more taking to various stages in the Swiss city.
Created in 1967 by Claude Nobs, the Montreux Jazz Festival has become a landmark event over the years and is steeped in music history. For the first time in 30 years, organisers will be leaving the convention centre which usually houses the event, replacing it with a stage on the lake shore.
There will also be a return to the Casino de Montreux, the birthplace of the festival, which caught fire during Frank Zappa’s set in 1971 – serving as the inspiration for Deep Purple’s timeless ‘Smoke On The Water.’
A breathtaking stage on the lake and a return to the legendary Casino: the 58th Montreux Jazz Festival promises to be historic. Today, we unveil the names of the artists who will be making this edition truly unforgettable! Tickets will go on sale tomorrow at noon. #MJF24 pic.twitter.com/uSQidz7ias

Alongside these two ticked stages is a free programme consisting of eleven free stages, including: the ibis MUSIC Terrace with electro-pop concerts and DJ sets; Ipanema, a waterfront house and techno nightclub; El Mundo, a hotbed of Latin music; the Super Bock Stage, an open-air stage with an eclectic line-up; and the Nestlé Terrace, a new stage dedicated to Swiss jazz artists.
Organisers are also bringing back the Lake House. Occupying three floors of the Petit Palais, the venue contains The Memphis, a jazz club devoted to trends in the genre and legendary jam sessions; La Coupole, a funk, house, disco and urban nightclub; Le Cinéma, a screening room for films, concerts and documentaries and La Bibliothèque, which brings together book and vinyl collections, presented each day by a special guest.
Now entering its 58th year, some of the world’s most renowned artists have performed at Montreux since its inception. From legends like Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and David Bowie (to name a few), to contemporary greats such as Radiohead, Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar.
