Bastille, Major Lazer, and At The Drive In are also confirmed.
The lineup for Reading & Leeds 2017 has been released, and Muse is returning to the festival for the first time in six years. They were headliners in 2011, and took the opportunity to play the entirety of their iconic album Origin of Symmetry. Muse themselves released a statement announcing their forthcoming appearance at the festival, and promising even more news for 2017.
“We’re very excited to be playing Reading and Leeds again,” said Muse. “More news about our plans for 2017 coming in the new year.”
Reading & Leeds organiser Melvin Benn was also excited to announce the news, saying, “I’m thrilled to be able to announce Muse as the first headliner for Reading and Leeds 2017. Their incredible live show promises to be an unforgettable performance – we have so much more to announce and I can’t wait to reveal the rest of the line up.”
After their unreal set from headlining Glastonbury back in June, fans are expecting one hell of a performance from the band at Reading & Leeds in August. Muse are famous at this point for putting on a show that is as much about the visuals as the music, though Glastonbury put a few restrictions on their last performance. The band had been flying actual drones around their Drones tour earlier last year, but at Glastonbury this was deemed to be too much of a liability. No news yet on whether Reading & Leeds will have the same concerns, but Muse are capable of playing a great set, drones or no drones.
Bastille, Major Lazer, and Glass Animals are also confirmed for the summer festival. There are also rumours that Kasabian will be headlining as well, but nothing official yet. Stay tuned.
