TOUCAN reveal the highlights of the year in their recap of 2019.
Your hero of 2019?
Greta Thunberg – the work and effort she's put in to show people around the world the necessity of drastic climate action is inspirational.
Villain of 2019?
It's gotta be the Joker. Joaquin Phoenix was amazing.
Best personal moment?
It was actually when we were doing a small tour of the UK. We were driving between Manchester and London, and everyone was messing and laughing together in the van. I was looking out the window, thinking how lucky and happy I am to be doing what I'm doing at the moment.
Best movie?
Marriage Story by Noah Baumbach.
Best record?
Has to be Kiwanuka by Michael Kiwanuka.
Best TV programme?
Joe Swanberg's , without a doubt.

Best book?
An Edited Life by Anna Newtown for sure. I've never exactly been the best at organising my life – it's fairly common for it to be hectic – so this book was a great find.
Best thing about the year?
Seeing everyone's reaction when we released our new EP in November! Definitely the main highlight for me. It's been such an incredible feeling playing to people in Ireland, the UK & the US, and having audiences singing the words back to us. We can't wait to do it again this summer at festivals, with all the new music we've been working on.
Your hope for next year?
Just hope things keep going the way they're going. We've had such amazing support over the last two years, and we just hope people continue to listen to all of the new music, and get as much enjoyment out of it as we do.
What tickled your funny bone?
I only stumbled upon Brooklyn Nine-Nine this year, but it's an absolute masterpiece.
