"These lyrics are actually completely incorrect and insulting," the band explained on their Twitter account.
Legendary Irish shoegaze rockers, My Bloody Valentine, have criticised the streaming behemoth Spotify for posting" "fake lyrics" to their songs.
As part of Spotify's listening experience since November 2021, consumers can view lyrics to songs that they're currently listening to.
However, taking to their official Twitter account, the band behind critically acclaimed albums such as Loveless and m b v took issue with the streaming service putting "fake lyrics up for our songs without our knowledge."
"These lyrics are actually completely incorrect and insulting," they wrote. "We're not sure where they got them from, probably one of those bullshit lyrics sites on the internet."
Although Spotify appear to have taken down the aforementioned "wrong lyrics" on their site, they still appear on Musixmatch, their lyric database partner.
My Bloody Valentine's catalogue had been previously unavailable on streaming platforms before joining them in April 2021 after signing with Domino Records. New physical editions of their albums were also released last year to celebrate joining a new label.

The band's lyrics have been shrouded in mystery since their formation due to how they were intentionally mixed and sang and also do not appear in the liner notes to their records.
Hot Press have reached out to the band to comment on this story.
Just noticed that Spotify has put fake lyrics up for our songs without our knowledge. These lyrics are actually completely incorrect and insulting. We’re not sure where they got them from, probably one of those bullshit lyrics sites on the internet
