While it will cost 549 euro, the limited-edition Shields Blender – designed with the My Bloody Valentine tonal pioneer – is an iconic vintage-style piece of music tech.
My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields has teamed with Fender for a new signature guitar pedal called the Fender Shields Blender.
The new piece of music teach features two footswitch channels, blendable fuzz, and a reactive sag circuit.
The collaboration project is notable for being both the firm’s first ever signature fuzz pedal, and for reprising one of the brand’s vintage obscurities in all its glory.
Shields is a talented tonal pioneer, and can easily claim to be one of the main forces of the shoegaze movement, a style of rock music in which separate instruments and vocals are blurred. Thanks to his pioneer status, the circuit has not hit the shelves unaltered, and the Shields Blender is a signature in way more than name.

“I really enjoyed the experience,” Shields said in a statement. “I’ve been using it a lot recently in the studio, it’s been great. I’m looking forward to hearing how other people use it. It’s kind of pretty extreme but also very interesting when it’s set up in a subtle way.”
In 2021, My Bloody Valentine signed to Domino, where they reissued multiple records on vinyl and added music including their most recent album, 2013’s m b v, to streaming services. At the time the partnership was announced, Shields revealed that he was working on two new My Bloody Valentine albums.
More information on the Fender Shields Blender can be found on the Fender website. The blender can also be purchased exclusively from Andertons.
