The Irish alt-rock artist today debuts the second song off her forthcoming EP, Sick Girlfriend, due for release early next year.
The second installment of Naoise Roo's eagerly awaited 4-track EP Sick Girlfriend has arrived today. The song, 'Falling Stars', is the second taste of Sick Girlfriend, due for release in early 2020. Sick Girlfriend is a four-track exploration of themes surrounding depression, the challenges of the music industry, and the oppressive stereotypes that burden women experiencing mental illness.
"Falling Stars is the softest and is maybe the most personal track off my upcoming EP," explained Roo. "Its about struggling with mental health issues in this industry."
With a darker and more introspective tone than previous single, 'Black Hole', 'Falling Stars' maintains Roo's signature sound with an albeit matured and expanded note. The song serves as the next chapter that delves further into her psyche as she returns to the Irish music scene, and one that will resonate greatly with most musicians.
Naoise Roo broke into the Irish music scene with her 2015 debut album, Lilith which was met with great acclaim. The album solidified her signature style which takes hints from hard grunge, ambient electronica, lush indie rock and Jacque Brel-channeling burlesque.

Roo's music is known for dealing with themes of heartbreak, desire and female identity and stylistically ranges from powerfully emotional indie rock to delicate ambient electronic, visceral hard grunge to wryly flirtatious chanson – while still remaining strikingly unique.
After a brief hiatus from the Irish music scene, the return of Naoise Roo is set to be triumphant if this new track is any indication. Sick Girlfriend will be released early next year. In the meantime, take a listen to 'Falling Stars' below.
