Nathan Mac ran away from the circus to play music…
In his most ambitious show to date, Nathan Mac is set to play the Smock Alley Theatre on 28 September!
“The Boy Who Learned To Fly” Show will feature live circus, storytelling, and a catalog of original music.
Now he’s a songwriter of consolation, content to be slightly forlorn. From skin hunger to womb envy . Nathan lives through his lyrics and uses his songwriting to explore the complications of being human with a passion for poetry, philosophy and storytelling. He sings with a playful wisdom and plays guitar with energetic melancholy.
His history in circus performance, and working as a professional storyteller allows him draw inspiration for style and content from many different places. Growing up in the town of Swords, Nathan started his journey performing at the local open mic alongside some outstanding local talents.
Over the years he has played in many guises, but as a solo artist, Nathan Mac looks to make his biggest impact.

Nathan started with an acoustic sound in his first steps, recording a three part EP with his mentor/producer Trisha O’Keefe. His track “Kiss Me Like I’m Already Gone” has previously found itself as Hotpress’ track of the day.
Since the release of “A Long Way from Pennywish” Nathan has been reaching for a more polished pop sound and looks to his influences of Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon and Jon Bellion.
The momentum built to sell out this show will carry on into 2020 when Nathan will release his second EP, in search of that crisp pop sound.
