10 tracks recorded in Malibu California on a hot summer’s day in August of 76'
On September 8th, Canadian folk-rock legend Neil Young will release an acoustic album “Hitchhiker” - a collection of powerful, politically inclined tracks featuring only the man, his harmonica and guitar.
Fans may notice the album features some recognisable riffs and melodies. Songs such as “Pocahontas” appeared on the 1979 album ‘Rust Never Sleeps’ while "Captain Kennedy" came out on the 1980 LP Hawks & Doves.
Yet 'Hitchhiker' is not a reboot of old classics, the album features two never before released tracks "Give Me Strength" a quintessential, heart-wrenching ballad, and the hypnotising "Hawaii".
Why Young has decided to release the album forty-one years after it was recorded is unknown but in the current political climate, the lyrics are as relevant as ever.
