The Irish indie singer also shares a video for the single ‘Electric Picnic’
Maynooth indie pop artist Nell Mescal has released her debut EP Can I Miss it for a Minute?, as well as the music video for her single ‘Electric Picnic’.
The EP follows the release of her two 2024 singles ‘Warm Body’ and ‘Yellow Dresser,’ selected as Hot Press’ track of the day on April 18.
Speaking about her debut record, Mescal explains: “Can I Miss it for a Minute? is a concept EP written about growing up, moving away, friendship breakups and trying to navigate between current emotions and negative memories.”

Mescal spent her last year playing an impressive number of shows, performing on festival stages such as Latitude, All Point East, Kendall Calling and Electric Picnic, supporting a number of artists such as HAIM, Florence & The Machine, Dermot Kennedy and The Last Dinner Party and selling out her first UK tour in January.

Continuing on the process of writing Can I Miss it for a Minute?, Mescal says: “Each song tells a part of the same story with a beginning, middle and an end. Some songs written in the moment and some written in retrospect.
It talks about my life and how I deal with experiences that have shaped me. Most importantly I think it’s about moving on from things that used to have a hold on me.”
