Pat “The Goon” Lagoon is starting his ascent. He’s just dropped his latest single ‘Let Loose’. It’s a proper summer banger. And, as with most of his work, it is produced almost exclusively with artists from his native Waterford. He’s a real hometown boy.
He’s also difficult to pin down. The South-East native skips excitedly between genres. Whatever your fancy there’s some of it in his repertoire. “My music is for everybody,” says The Goon. “It’s easy on the ears. Chill, upbeat, downtempo, heavy, laid-back... I prefer switching it up as often as I can.”
He’s just 20, but he’s already accomplished so much. Nor does he lack for self-belief. This is no shrinking violet that we are dealing with. He reminds us of this when he starts rapping his song ‘Game Boy’. Yes, he’s doing it live over the phone. “Pushing all these buttons / Man she’s gotta be a rookie / I don’t know her but she could be”, he rhymes down the line. With confidence like that he’ll go far.
