The 22-year-old Dubliner has made an immediate splash with his debut single, 'Last Night', a dizzying dance tune with an instantly memorable hook. The story of a drunken argument between a couple, the artist otherwise known as David Costello says, "I draw on random things. Some are personal experiences, but I think this is mostly just a story, which came together one day all of a sudden."

In terms of his creative process, Day_S says he starts off in simple fashion. "It's just me and a piano," he explains. "I'll sit down, find a melody and stick the phone on record. I just play and play, until it comes together, and in this case, the track formed extremely quickly."

Promisingly, Day_S has a stockpile of material to call upon. "The new tune, and a few other tracks - which I'll drop later as singles - were recorded in Diffusion Labs when I started with them in January. Everyone is so focused there, so we gelled after no length of time. It's such a great place to work, because everyone who comes in has their own distinct style. No two acts are the same. The Labs are the birthplace for a lot of new Irish music, because it's a family without judgement. You play what you wanna play and they're open to it."
