Following the release of 'Silly Little Song' earlier this month, Julie Dawson – singer/songwriter of acclaimed Galway-formed band NewDad – has revealed that her debut solo album, Bottom Of The Pool is set to be released on September 13, via Fair Youth.
Alongside the announcement, she's also shared the upcoming LP's title track.
During a hiatus between NewDad albums, Julie forged a creative connection with electronic producer Jack Hamill (aka Space Dimension Controller). The resulting album is said to take "a sonic detour from Julie’s work with NewDad, allowing her to express her songwriting and vocals in a new and otherworldly context built by Jack."
According to its official description, the central theme of Bottom Of The Pool revolves around "escapism, reflecting Julie’s desire to create something entirely separate from her daily routine."
"This sense of freedom allowed both Julie and Jack to explore new artistic territories without any expectations, resulting in a looser creative process for the pair," the description continues. "The album's narrative captures this essence, landing as a deep and immersive record that transcends the mundane."
NewDad released their lauded debut album, Madra, earlier this year – with the project debuting at No.6 on the Official Irish Albums Chart.
