They have been described as one of the most credible acts in rock ’n’ roll – and there’s no reason to argue with that!
Electric Picnic bill just got a whole lot better with the addition of Rage Against The Machine. The Los Angeles band, formed in 1991, are among the most trenchantly political outfits in rock. The gig is part of a 40-date reunion tour, which is their first in almost a decade.
The tour kicks off in El Paso, Texas. Whether it starts strategically close to the Mexican border – which has been the focus of much controversy during the bizarre Presidency of Donald Trump – remains to be seen. However, the band have already said that proceeds from the gigs in El Paso, Phoenix and La Cruses will go to immigrant rights efforts. Rage Against The Machine will be supported on the U.S. dates by Run The Jewels.
The band will cross the Atlantic for a series of festival gigs, including appearances at both the Reading Festival and the Leeds Festival in England.
There are also appearances at the Rock En Seine Festival in Paris and the Lollapalooza Festival in Berlin, with the Czech Republic and Poland also featuring on the list of shows.

However, the Electric Picnic appearance should be among the highlights of the tour. Watch this space for further EP news. You can also read our review of Rage Against The Machine's debut Irish show in The Tivoli Theatre in 1993.
