The sales from the NFT collection benefit the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation, which aims to inspire, empower and create opportunities for youth.
At an NFT auction yesterday, a previously unreleased Whitney Houston demo was sold for $1 million, or approximately €883,815.
The American icon recorded the demo when she was only 17, and the track has now been auctioned off by NFT platform OneOf. The auction sale included not only the demo, but also archival photos of Houston and a video of Diana Sinclair discussing the American singer.
"Being able to collaborate with her music and her family really transformed the way that I saw her in her music video," said Sinclair in a video on the NFT collection webpage. "I feel more connected to the person that she was. Working with her voice on something like this really tied me to that time and her in a way that I wouldn't have had before."
The demo is only one item in the Whitney Houston NFT collection. Other fixed-price items include more archival photos presented like a digital scrapbook that showcase her early life and career. Sales from the NFT collection will benefit the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation, which aims to inspire and empower youth.
