The folk artist’s recently released single gets a fresh makeover for a live video performance in Dublin’s iconic Phoenix Park. Check it out below!
A fresh, fast-rising talent in the Irish folk scene, Niamh Bury continues to gain traction with her recent single ‘Discovery,’ released earlier this month via Claddagh Records. Today, the singer-songwriter shares a live video performing the song in Dublin’s Phoenix Park, adding a new depth and breadth to the already sizzling track.
‘Discovery’ is the third single from Bury, whose July debut ‘Beehive’ brought about quick initial attention from music fans and media alike. Her sophomore single ‘Who Am I To Tell Him?’ added to the fire, with both tracks garnering over 1 million radio impacts across 20 stations in Ireland following their release.
Since the release of ‘Discovery,’ the video has acquired over 15k views on YouTube, the track has been added to several Spotify editorial playlists including New Music Friday, and the song has received well-deserved radio play from RTÉ.
Following the excitement over Bury’s live performance of the single for RTÉ Radio 1’s Arena during a broadcast at the Pavillion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire, the radio outlet will air a specially-commissioned orchestral arrangement of ‘Discovery’ on Monday, October 30, featuring Bury performing the single live with the help of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.
Since her summer emergence, Bury has appeared in a dedicated full-length feature for CLASH Magazine’s August issue, plus made appearances at numerous festivals this year including St. Patrick’s Festival, Body & Soul, Quiet Lights, and Dún Laoghaire Folk Festival. She is an easily captivating and striking performer, drawing listeners in with her soul-stirring vocals and unique adaptations of traditional songs.

Over the past six months alone, Niamh Bury has collaborated and shared the stage with acts like Dermot Kennedy, Ye Vagabonds, Martin Hayes, Myles O’Reilly, Niamh Regan and Cinder Well. This year also saw Niamh selected by Dermot Kennedy to play with him in an exclusive gig at one of Dublin’s favourite pubs, The Long Hall, as part of Guinness’s Live and Rising campaign.
Bury shares of her newest single, “Discovery is about the embryonic state of something that is yet to fully form and reach its potential. It's about having patience, trusting in the process and accepting that things will develop exactly as they should. I wrote it at a time when certain things I was striving for seemed elusive and out of reach, so in a sense, it's also a kind of pep talk to self.”
“Breathe out, breathe in / Those plans you’re making / You’re not fooling anyone / You’re not fooling anyone,” Bury sings on ‘Discovery,’ her spine-tingling vocals bringing the searing lyrics to life
Her lush, roaming songs are essentially maps of conversations – both real and perhaps yearned for – with oneself, loved ones, imaginary characters and those who have passed on to other worlds. Each is an attempt to arrive at some kind of empathy, understanding and acceptance.
