Tickets for Niamh Dunne, Seán Óg Graham, Bróna McVittie and Cormac Breatnach are available now.
Traditional musicians Niamh Dunne, Seán Óg Graham, Bróna McVittie and Cormac Breatnach are set to kick off the Music Network’s Spring 2024 season in Clifden on February 6th.
As founding members of the Grammy-nominated band Beoga, best known for their Irish-fusion music and collaborations with Ed Sheeran, Niamh Dunne combines warm, smoky vocals and rich fiddle playing with Seán Óg Graham’s talents on the guitar and button accordion, featured on over 40 folk/traditional albums across the world. Skilled vocalist and harper Bróna McVittie, regarded as one of the most innovative new artists to emerge on the scene, adds her talents to the mix alongside whistle player Cormac Breatnach, a founding member and creative force behind the iconic 90’s band Deiseal, to complete the quartet.
Bróna McVittie will also debut a new composition during the tour as commissioned by Music Network. “'I'm toying with a couple of different approaches,” McVittie says, shedding light on her creative process, “both are responses to the unfolding horror in Gaza. I want to create something that will be a tribute in particular to all the young lives lost, lives never to be lived. I'm referencing my own experience of growing up in a segregated society during the troubles in Northern Ireland. It's probably the hardest thing I've ever tried to compose, but I'm determined to create something uplifting.'
The quartet combines contemporary and traditional music, presenting classic songs in modern ways through carefully crafted arrangements and expertly narrated stories.
