Niamh Regan has today announced that her sophomore LP Come As You Are will be available for fans to listen to this May 2024. The critically acclaimed songwriter also accompanied this announcement with the release of the album's lead single 'Madonna'.

'Madonna' is written in a stream of consciousness, and focuses on violence often suffered by women. It features Regan's signature folk sound, which has garnered her numerous accolades including RTE Folk Awards and Choice Music Prize ‘Album of the Year’ nominations.

Like a beat poetry track, 'Madonna' is a mish mash of words and ideas which are imbued with a reflective intensity. The music video also highlight the strength's of Regan's lyrics, featuring a video of Regan singing 'Madonna' on a TV screen while the lyrics text pops up externally to the TV screen.

The new track is the first taster for fans of Regan's upcoming Come As You Are LP which the artist recorded in Attica Studios Donegal with producer Tommy McLaughlin. Speaking of what she hopes Come As You Are embodies, Regan said: “A lot of it is about being in your late twenties and kind of realising we’re all running out of time,”

She states: “I’d have bouts of massive self-belief in the studio, and then in the next breath I would be like, ‘This is the worst piece of music I could have even imagined.’ It was a rollercoaster. But through that I found self-acceptance; this is where I’m at and making peace with that",

"That’s what the album essentially is, just making peace with where I’m at and being realistic with myself.”
