The show will come a year after another Gallagher performed at the venue...
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have today announced their return to Ireland with a huge gig at Malahide Castle next summer where they'll be joined by special guests in Doves (who are making a return after nine years off), DMA’S and Blossoms.
The band are already well acquainted with Irish shores, and played Dublin's 3Arena in May as part of their tour for Who Built The Moon?, their 2017 album which was a record-breaking 10th consecutive chart-topping studio album in UK for Gallagher, a feat in which no other artist has achieved.
The album debuted in UK at Number 1, achieving gold certification in less than 2 weeks after its release, and marked a hat-trick of successes for the High Flying Birds after their first two records. The first of which being their eponymous debut effort from 2011, which went double platinum in the UK and to date has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide. Their follow-up in Chasing Yesterday brought similar riches, produced some live favourites 'In the Heat of the Moment' and 'Lock all the Doors' and prompted another 122 shows in 28 countries for the band.
Noel in his own right this year picked up awards for both Outstanding Contribution To Music and Best Solo Artist at the 2018 Q Awards. This came in addition to his relentless touring with the High Flying Birds, where they performed with a no less than 11-piece band.
The former Oasis man himself stresses that "Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is me and whoever is around at the time of whatever it is that I’m doing, a loose collective kinda thing,” so you can perhaps expect something different again for their Malahide Castle bow.
