Nu breed
Not bad if you want to listen to lots of new tunes flawlessly mixed that go nowhere, but surely that ain’t the point.
The Global Underground boys realise they’re onto a good thing and are now knocking out the celeb and not-so-celeb DJ mix compilations at a ridiculous rate – too much of a good thing and all that, gents? Flying the Nu Breed flag this time round is the slightly less credible and slightly more popular half of the Tyrant duo, Lee Burridge. A former cheese merchant, Burridge moved on to pastures trendier in the past few years – so that means tech-house, breakbeat and progressive dominate the mix. But did you ever get the feeling all these dudes would be much happier playing some trance-tastic screamers than the ‘cool’ gear? Just a thought. Anyhow, the mix. While there are top tracks a-plenty from Mood II Swing, Lueroj, Rocket, Rennie Pilgrem and Blim and Aaron Carl, the whole thing just sort of flows along reasonably pleasently. Not bad if you want to listen to lots of new tunes flawlessly mixed that go nowhere, but surely that ain’t the point. Tepid.
