The County Louth artist will play her first show at Bray’s Mermaids Centre on 30th March.
Shorelines is Nuala Kennedy’s critically acclaimed new recording, which received praise from both national and international press. Alongside County Clare fiddle player Tara Breen (The Chieftains) and by Dublin guitarist Tony Byrne (Danú), she will embark on a national tour this weekend.
Nuala is trained as a traditional musician, but is today well-known for stepping outside the genre. She’s worked with American poet Bonnie Prince Billy, Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub) and Mike Scott (The Waterboys), amongst others.
For her first tour date in Bray, Nuala and the band will be joined by special guest Macdara Yeates, a folk singer from Dublin.

"I can’t wait to bring the music of Shorelines to The Mermaid Arts Centre,” says Nuala. “It has been a long time brewing in my mind, and now the music is out there and alive, and developing further as we perform it. The theme delves into the role of women in traditional song, and by extension examines their place in society. With this tour we can shine a light on the work of some of our foremothers while also playing some great live music. Tara and Tony are internationally regarded players and have performed in huge venues around the world. Now we have the opportunity to perform together in trio for local venues across Ireland".
Tickets for the trio’s Mermaid Centre show range from €19 to €21 and are available here.
