Derry band Amberlight are back with a haunting new production.
Following the release of 'Peace At Last' earlier this year, Amberlight are back with 'Only Love (A Fisherman’s Lament)', a modern Irish lament about the lure of love and an ever-enduring draw to the sea. Hot Press is delighted to premiere the official YouTube music video for the track below.
Amberlight – comprising Lauren Doherty (vocals) and Paul Casey (guitarist / producer) – are joined as usual by Liam Bradley (drums & percussion), John McCullough (piano & Hammond), Nicky Scott (double bass), and Damien McGeehan (fiddle), on the new song, due for release on all digital platforms on May 21.
All the musicians are featured on the equally lush video, which was filmed and directed by Casey himself, on location in Donegal and Belfast.
While vocalist Doherty is to the fore as always, this is the first time Casey has added his own vocals to an Amberlight track. The resulting recording, produced by Casey at his Cable Junction Studio, seems a perfect balance of these two significant voices in Irish music.

The duo’s song follows the tale of a fisherman who falls in love with a married woman on the shore. She mourns when he is lost at sea – and she forever awaits his return… “Only love keeps us from falling, only love tears us apart…”
