"It's a day of mourning," festival organisers have stated.
Strong winds at Spain's Medusa Festival resulted in the main stage and main entrance collapsing on Saturday – killing one 22-year-old man, and injuring 17, three of them seriously, according to CNN.
There were about 50,00 people at the festival site, located at Cullera, near Valencia, when the incident occurred.
In a statement issued by the festival's organisers, they noted that, following the "unexpected and violent" winds at around four in the morning, the immediate decision was made to evacuate the concert area.
They went to announce that the rest of their 2022 edition was cancelled, describing it as "a day of mourning."
Scheduled headliners at Medusa Festival 2022 included Afrojack, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, and more.
Taking to social media, Ximo Puig, the President of the Valencian Government, described the stage collapse as "a terrible accident that shocks us all."

"I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the young man who passed away early this morning at the Medusa Festival," he continued.
Sad to wake up and read the news of @Medusa_festival 🙏🏻🙏🏻 My thoughts go the hurt ones and i hope the rest of the festival people / crew got home safe.
