Coinciding with its 25th anniversary, the Polish anti-racist organization has released a limited edition vinyl of their compilation album, intending for it to be commemorative and not commercial.
For the first time, Polish anti-racist organization, the 'NEVER AGAIN' Association, will release its album One Race - Human Race. Music Against Racism: Part 2 on vinyl. The historic record has been considered a statement of resistance against violence and intolerance ever since its release by QQRYQ Productions in 1998.
Compiled by the late Marcin Kornak – a human rights activist, poet, and founder of 'NEVER AGAIN' –, the commemorative album includes songs from artists around the world from varying genres. Some of the artists featured on the record include British bands such as Chumbawamba and Zion Train, who are known for their anti-racism activism, and Polish hip-hop musician Liroy, who raps anti-fascist lyrics from poet and playwright Bertolt Brecht. WRS Band, a group that includes members from Polish punk rock groups Robotnik and Uliczny Opryszek, recorded the track 'Let's Kick Racism Out of Stadiums,' which became the anthem for the campaign of the same name in 1996.
The double vinyl released in collaboration with Jimmy Jazz Records arrives just in time for the organisation's 25th anniversary, and Kornak's friends say it is dedicated to his memory. Kornak, who was also the editor-in-chief of the 'NEVER AGAIN' journal, was the creator of 'Brown Book,' a register of hate crimes in Poland.
"Racism is fostered through ignorance," said Kornak after an appeal was placed on the One Race - Human Race. Music Against Racism: Part 2 cover after its release. "It is the type of ideology which already leads to atrocity, because its main component is hatred against diversity. Humans, on the other hand, although the same in their nature, differ in their culture, religion, convictions, the colour of their hair, eyes, skin...and that is wonderful, because it makes this world and this life so fascinating."
