Ahead of their appearance at Another Love Story this month, we caught up with Dublin five-piece Tomorrows.
Tomorrows are somewhat of a super group up made of members from the now defunct but fondly remembered Dublin bands The Chapters and Biggles Flys Again. Their ability to mix a number of different sounds and influences into one cohesive package is impressive.
Psychedelic influences from the 60s and 70s permeate their sound, as well as those from contemporary folk music of the same era. Indie influences from the 90s also find their place to shine, while even some synthy electro sounds are given their space as well.
These guys have been on the quieter side of the gig scene for a while but are gearing up to add to an already impressive line up at Another Love Story Festival next month in Killyon Manor, Co. Meath. We caught up with members Conor and Murph to hear about what’s been going on behind the scenes.
You’ve guys have all been part of prominent Irish bands previously - is that how you guys met and came together as Tomorrows?
Conor: Yeah, definitely. Murph was in The Chapters and I (Conor) was doing Biggles Flys Again and I started doing stuff with Murph and Ciaran from The Chapters. They had been playing in a band with Ben called The Danger Is so that’s how we met Ben. My brother Ivan then actually stepped in for Murph on the album tour as Murph couldn't make it away with us, so he filled his substantial boots.

Murph: (piping up in the background) I prefer pumps, or maybe high heels. He filled my high heels!
Conor: Haha, ok so Ivan filled his high heels! Ivan knew Will from different bands as well and at that stage Ciaran couldn't play on the tour either so we asked Will. So yeah! We all know each other from loads of different bands!
How would you describe your sound?
Muprh: I guess it is very 60s, 70s and even 80s inspired I suppose. A lot of dodgy 70s stuff! It’s like Michael McDonald, Supertramp - very Supertramp. It’s definitely some part of 5 people playing together in different parts and each bringing their own little bits and pieces to it. Yeah its kind of grown -it changes as a live thing, so its quite creative.
Your debut album was released last November along with the single and title track 'Another Life'. What was the reception like to that?
Murph: It's been amazing! We got really good write ups in different publications and blogs and all over the place really so it was great! Very positive - the single got a lot of air time on loads of different stations everywhere and people were really supportive and offering us gigs and even the feedback after we played gigs was really positive and everything went really well. We did a tour around Europe to coincide with the launch back in November and that went really well too. It was all just overwhelmingly positive I think is the thing to take from it.
And well deserved. What’s in store for the rest of 2017?

Murph: Well, we have Another Love Story next month which we’re really looking forward to. We've been writing new stuff as well and we're planning on doing some recording. We’re still kinda getting ideas together and planning but there'll be a Dublin gig later in the year and maybe some new releases as well.
Conor: We had a video for one of the songs on the album, 'Ricochet', which we released a few months ago which was made by a friend of ours which went great, got some great feedback off of that as well, so maybe there’ll be some more videos in our future!
So where will we look to to find out about any future happenings with Tomorrows? What’s in Tomorrows tomorrow some might say!
Murph: We’ve Facebook and Twitter, and you can download the album or buy the vinyl on our Bandcamp site.
